Yesterday St. Louis Cardinals two rookies, center feilder Coby Rasmus and bullpen pitcher Blake Hawksworth, played important roles in beating the San Diego Padres 7-5 and upping their winning streak to four games.
Hawksworth came in and shut down the Padres for two innings, further showing that he might be that missing piece in the bullpen that Tony LaRussa wants for the playoff stretch.
Rasmus clobbered a two-run home run to right to power the Cardinals to the come-from-behind walk-off victory.
Yesterday’s sweep of the Padres is great for the Cardinals who start a seven game road trip out west. Tonight is the first of four games against the Los Angeles Dodgers, followed by three games at Petco Park against the Padres.
